Annual Iftar Dinner

Every year, Hunehar, hosts an Annual Iftar dinner which is an opportunity for all sponsors to meet their sponsored child and their families. Eid gifts are distributed among the children and their happy faces are always a sight for sore eyes. We are grateful for all the food and event sponsors who make this possible every year.

COVID-19 ration drive

A ration drive was organized for the families of children studying in Hunehar Welfare school in view of COVID-19 pandemic. A single ration bag/family lasts for only 2 weeks. The families were divided and invited at different times to prevent crowding. Proper precautionary measures were taken by the team members by wearing masks, gloves, gowns and maintaining a safe distance. Apart from distribution of ration packages, our members also counselled the families regarding proper precautionary measures against corona virus prevention and spread.

Dental Hygiene Activity

A major part of personal hygiene is taking care of the mouth and the teeth, which has the potential of saving individuals from future general and dental health problems. An oral hygiene awareness program was carried out at the Hunehar Welfare School on 28th November 2019. In the campaign, dental screenings were carried out by Dr. Mahwish from Yardim Foundation and Dr. Hasan. Those requiring urgent dental care were given attention with respect to their needs.

Bricks or Books ?

To demonstrate our motives thoroughly, Hunehar organized an annual fundraising gala to celebrate the success of our little Hunehars on the 30th of April 2016 at Centaurus Mall. It consisted of multiple interactive activities aimed at the enrichment of our kids. These included:

An E-gaming competition: A chance to flaunt a gamer soul within.
An “Art at the Spot” competition, including face painting and live sketching: A heaven for the artist souls.
An Arts exhibition of the beautiful and well-crafted paintings made by the students of Rawalpindi Arts Council.
Delightful and interactive representation of the game show “Minute to Win it”.
A chance for us to ask our visitors: “Are You Smarter than a Fifth-Grader?” in a game fight between them and our Hunehars.
A chance for our guests to impart their knowledge to our little brainiacs by teaching them!
Drawing, coloring and Spelling Bee competitions for our little children.

Engineers Developing the society

Hunehar achieved a rather crucial milestone on November 11th, when a very successful educational trip to FAST University on the event of ‘Engineers developing the society’ was conducted for the students of 6th and 7th grade, enrolled in Saya School, one of the partners of Hunehar. The aim was to acquaint students with the university environment and introduce them to the technicalities of computers. The students got a wonderful opportunity to interact and learn from competitive university students. Increasing competition and advancing technology makes it vital for almost every one to work on a computer on at least basic level. For the very purpose, students were divided into groups, assigned to different participants of various universities whose primal task was to familiarize these students with basic tools such as ‘Word pad’ and ‘Paint’. As soon as the students got into the premises of FAST University, a very warm welcome from Joint Secretary IEEE, Head EDS Event, and Head WIE awaited them. Right after the welcome ceremony and allocation of groups, students were surprised with chocolates to keep their morale high.

Hunehar Funfair

Hunehar welfare school in collaboration with students from NUST School of Social Sciences and Humanities held a funfair for their students that included painting activities, bouncy castle, magic show, singing competition, lunch and ice cream The event was covered by media and the children had a terrific time engaged in fun activities and interacting with the students from s3h.

Hunehar Meet and Greet

Hunehar once again managed to pull off a successful Annual Iftar Dinner with the help of our generous sponsors. The entire team and all the sponsors witnessed the most vibrant smiles today. All the children were given Eid gifts whereas their parents were given Ration packages. It is during these events that we realise how much we are blessed and how ungrateful we are at times. Some parents told us their kids had always wanted to eat at such restaurants but they could never afford it. Others just stood their staring at the ceiling and the people around them. It is moments like this that just puts everything in perspective for us. They keep us going. All your problems disappear when you talk to these parents for a mere five or ten minutes. We want to thank our generous sponsors for making this event possible and for showing their commitment to our cause.

Orientation

Hunehar conducted it’s first recruitment drive last month and successfully selected the most outstanding candidates out of the 200 that applied. Each one of them was different in their own way.They are all empathetic, energetic and ready to make a difference. Hats off to all the directors. The team decided to invite all the selected candidates for an orientation so that everyone can get to know each other. From ice breaking activities to games that made everyone laugh together, we did it all.

Ramadan Donation Drive _16

Hunehar is proud to announce the achievement of another milestone. Hunehar in collaboration with ICANCERVIVE has Alhamdulillah distributed 1500 Iftar boxes this Ramadan. The hospitals that were targeted include Lady Reading Hospital, HMC, KTH and Kidney Centre. This indeed is a moment to return gratitude to many of the supporters of Hunehar who have contributed generously for this sacred cause. This would not have been possible without their contribution and efforts. We want to thank our generous donors who helped us make this possible Mr. Afzal Shahzad, Nida Wali, Saman Sardar, Sadaf Farooq. The generous support of individuals makes it possible for our organization to exist and to make the community a great place to live. Hunehar extends its sincere appreciation to everyone.

TOMS shoes event

TOMs teamed up with Hunehar last Sunday to distribute free shoes among underprivileged students. The event was sponsored by TomsShoes who sponsored free shoes to the children of Hunehar. Dreamland Motel Islamabad sponsored the event venue, PTCL sponsored the transportation and expenses for hi-tea Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) [Official]] made it possible for TOMS to acknowledge our NGO as a part of their generous project. And lastly Zaryab Choudhary sponsored the food for Hunehar children at the event. The chief guests included Portuguese Ambassador; Joao Paulo Sabido Costa, Mr. Khushdil Khan Malik; Additional Sectery govt of Pakistan Malik nadeem Akhtar Kakayzai ; Chairman “THE” Society (Together for Health and Education) and Ms. Hina Tasleem; Gm strategy and Head of CSR. We would like to thank all of our guests for their worthwhile participation in the event and our sponsoring partners, for their substantial contribution and support in the cause of Hunehar.
